Civitai is a completely free community hub for discovering, downloading and sharing custom AI models and LoRAs (fine-tuning adaptations) for Stable Diffusion. The platform does not monetize model access or generation: it hosts an open marketplace where thousands of creators share their trained models. Free users access the entire model catalog, community galleries and community challenges. Paid tiers (Bronze $10/month, Silver $25/month, Gold $50/month) add benefits: Buzz allocations (internal currency), unlimited Vault storage to save your custom models, exclusive badges and priority access.

Civitai exposes a documented public API enabling model search and download integration into automated pipelines and custom workflows. The interface remains English only, with no official French localization announced. The main strength is that Civitai creates a sustainable and growing ecosystem of open-source model sharing: you find trained models for every imaginable use case (portraits, landscapes, artistic styles, etc.) without paying for each new model. The major weakness is that Civitai is a model hub and marketplace, not a turnkey generation platform: you must still have your own inference infrastructure (local server, cloud GPU, A100/L40 rental) or use a compatible third-party service.
