Infracost

FinOps tool to estimate cloud costs of Terraform changes in CI/CD before deployment

Development & no-code

Overview

Infracost is a FinOps (Financial Operations) tool that estimates cloud costs of Terraform infrastructure changes before deployment in pull requests. It integrates AWS, Azure, Google Cloud pricing data (updated weekly) and displays cost impact per resource, with cost diffs directly in GitHub, GitLab, Atlantis, or CI/CD systems (Jenkins, CircleCI, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket). The free plan includes 1,000 executions per month and PR integration on GitHub/GitLab; Starter ($250/month) adds 10,000 runs and email support; Cloud ($1,000/month) adds FinOps policies, cost guardrails, autofix workflows, and team visibility dashboards; Enterprise by request includes custom SKU markups and SSO.

Infracost is available entirely in English without documented localization. Documented REST and GraphQL APIs enable integration into custom workflows (Cloud Pricing API for pricing, Plan JSON API for estimates). The tool integrates primarily with Terraform (CloudFormation and Pulumi are in development pipeline) and covers 1,100+ Terraform resources across AWS/Azure/GCP. The primary limitation is Terraform-only scope: for multi-IaC teams (Pulumi, Ansible), Infracost provides cost visibility only for the Terraform portion.

Our verdict

Best for SMEs and Terraform-using teams to onboard cloud cost visibility into CI/CD without high upfront fees via the free tier. Avoid if you use exclusively Pulumi or CloudFormation: Infracost does not yet support them, and alternative tools or future Infracost versions are necessary.
